The European Union plans to expand the powers of its border protection agency to include the authority to carry out deportations. These plans were presented on Tuesday to strengthen the fight against illegal migration. The European Commission proposed that Frontex take a primary role in organizing the removal of people who do not have the legal right to stay in the EU. The proposal includes creating a reserve of 17,000 officers who can be mobilized when needed. Officials stated that Europe will always defend its borders.
