Blue Nile State in southeastern Sudan is facing growing humanitarian pressure as displacement continues and returnees arrive from South Sudan. About 27,000 families are displaced, with rising needs for shelter, food and basic assistance. The regional humanitarian aid commissioner, Qismah Abdul Karim Daldoum, said at a press conference broadcast by Al Jazeera Mubasher that the humanitarian situation is highly sensitive. She cited multiple waves of displacement, and the commission called for urgent humanitarian intervention.
