State railway operator KAI says Karet station in central Jakarta will stay open. The plan is to integrate it with the newer Sudirman Baru station rather than close it down. Between January and August 2026, the two stations together served 6,702,680 KRL Commuter Line passengers. The operator argues that combining them will handle that heavy traffic better than shutting either one.
