Lisbon, Setúbal and the Algarve have the lowest secondary school completion rates in Portugal, according to the latest official figures. Enrolment across the country is still growing overall. The 2024/2025 school year counted 2,078,116 students in the education system, 9,326 more than the year before. Those three regions, however, lag behind when it comes to pupils who actually finish secondary school.
