Nyanga customer centre to close permanently as City cites safety concerns and falling foot traffic
The City of Cape Town announced that the Nyanga Walk‑in Centre will shut down permanently at the end of October 2026. Officials cited a steady decline in the number of people using the centre as a primary reason for the closure. Safety concerns raised by staff and visitors were also mentioned as a factor influencing the decision. Former users will be instructed to obtain services at the Fezeka office, which remains open for in‑person assistance. The municipality also urged residents to make use of its online platforms for most transactions. The closure will take effect after the final day of October, ending the centre’s operations that had served the community for several years.
