The US Secretary of War announced a Washington proposal to draw up a new framework for defense cooperation with ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The framework is to be drafted to coincide with the 50th anniversary of relations between the two sides in 2027. The announcement gave no further details on what the framework would contain.
