Minister Oscar Puente said he will not resign after the recent accident. He stated that his focus is on clarifying the incident rather than personal considerations. Puente acknowledged that a signaling system malfunction occurred on the stretch of road where the crash happened. He added that, inexplicably, an operator gave the order to resume movement of the convoy that collided with a stopped Iryo vehicle. The minister reported that the convoy struck the Iryo despite the failure of the signaling equipment. He indicated that investigations are underway to determine why the operator’s command was issued. Puente emphasized his responsibility to uncover the causes before making any personnel decisions.
