Employers are increasingly reluctant to hire because of ongoing economic difficulties and rising tax burdens. In the Olt region, the employment agency placed only 1,929 job seekers in the first nine months of 2026. This figure represents less than one‑third of the annual target set for the agency. Young workers and people older than 60 are reported as the groups most impacted by the hiring slowdown.
