Alberta referendum saw 70.4% turnout — highest voter participation in decades
Full story
Alberta recorded a 70.4 percent turnout for its recent referendum. This figure represents the highest level of voter participation in a provincewide vote since at least 1975. However, the turnout did not surpass the all-time record. That record was set during the 1935 general election when 81.8 percent of voters participated.
The turnout is the highest for a provincewide vote since at least 1975, but it fell short of breaking the record of 81.8 per cent turnout seen in the 1935 general election.
