Sargazo cubre playas de Progreso y Telchac Puerto, Yucatán; marea baja modifica paisaje costero
Full story
Massive amounts of sargassum seaweed have blanketed the beaches of Progreso and Telchac Puerto in Yucatán. The accumulation has altered the appearance of the coastline, especially during the recent low tide. Local tide forecasts indicated that on Thursday the low tide occurred between approximately 10:40 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. The timing of the low water exposed more of the washed‑ashore seaweed. Authorities are monitoring the situation as the organic material continues to affect coastal tourism.
