De acuerdo a un informe preliminar de la Autoridad Administrativa Independiente para la Investigación Técnica de Accidentes e Incidentes Ferroviarios (AITAT), “la cadena de averías, instrucciones y acciones eventualmente habrían conducido a la colisión, sin que hubiesen actuado las barreras mitigadoras necesarias”.
