During a gathering of members and supporters in Ilioupoli, the leader of the Greek Left Unity, Alexis Tsipras, said the coalition must build a strong progressive pole opposite New Democracy. He presented the creation of such a pole as the primary objective of the alliance. Tsipras criticised the government led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, accusing it of policies he opposed. He also directed sharp remarks toward the SYRIZA and PASOK parties, suggesting they have become stagnant. The speech emphasized that the alliance will not become a pawn of the political right. Tsipras called for renewed cooperation among left‑wing forces to present a credible alternative.
