Daniel Holgado earned pole position for the Moto2 class at the Malaysian Grand Prix, posting a convincing qualifying performance. The front row will be completed by Angel Piqueras and Izan Guevara, who qualified behind him. Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez qualified ninth, well back from the pole sitter. In the Moto3 category, Maximo Quiles posted the fastest qualifying time. The results set a clear starting grid for both classes at the race weekend.
