The former director of the Maritime Security Administration, Haris Husiq, owns a private firm called Manat Marine. Two private companies were authorized to control AIS equipment. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs states it did not appoint these firms. The current director of the Administration denies that the companies hold exclusive rights.
