Residents from Oleshky returned to Ukraine during a rare local ceasefire. Some inhabitants suffered from extreme hunger and resorted to eating grass and squash to survive. One woman described risking her life by cycling through minefields. She did this to find food for herself and her dog.
“We chopped grass and squash ... just to hold on,” one resident said, adding that she risked riding by bicycle through minefields to get food for herself and her dog.
