International relations theorist John Mearsheimer outlined Israel’s strategic goals in the Middle East and said Iran is the most important obstacle to some of them. He warned that expanding the war across the entire region would bring heavy losses to Israel and to the economies of Persian Gulf countries. The report also says he argued that war with Iran would harm both the United States and Israel.
