V pričakovanju vnovičnega bližnjevzhodnega konflikta se v prvenstvu MotoGP (v ozadju skoraj že odločene borbe za naslov prvaka) odvija borba dirkačev oziroma ekip proti lastnikom prvenstva. Yamaha se je odločila, da ne bo dirkala v Katarju zaradi pretečih nevarnosti morebitnega vnovičnega napada ZDA na Iran, ki naj bi se zgodil prav v prihajajočem tednu.
