Authorities in the Peruvian port city of Callao placed plastic barriers and safety tape around Plaza Grau to keep people out of the area. The measure followed unusually strong waves that reached the green zone of the plaza yesterday. The navy warned that anomalous wave activity will continue along the entire Peruvian coast until 2 November. Officials urged residents to stay away from the shoreline while the conditions persist. In addition, a preventive closure has been imposed on twenty‑five ports. These actions aim to protect the public from further wave impact.
