‘Constructively resigned’: MEC rejects return of Potani after diplomatic posting to China
The Malawi Electoral Commission has refused to take back Harris Potani, its former deputy chief executive, who turned up at its offices on Monday more than a year after leaving the institution. The commission maintains that his diplomatic posting to China amounted to a constructive resignation. It has also accused the Office of the President and Cabinet of unlawfully interfering in its staffing affairs. Potani joined MEC in 1999 and climbed the ranks to a senior post before his departure.
