Full story
The underground chambers of Hagia Sophia are being opened to visitors for the first time. Turkey’s minister of culture described these spaces as at least as interesting as the building’s above‑ground areas. He called the recent restoration work unprecedented in the monument’s modern history. The openings are intended to allow the public to see the previously hidden sections. Officials said the project highlights the site’s layered architectural legacy.
