İstanbul's dismissed mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu faced the court for the 76th time in the 'organized crime' case against him. A total of 414 defendants appeared at the hearing, 50 of them in custody, including İmamoğlu, who was removed from his post as head of the Istanbul metropolitan municipality. One defendant who is not behind bars, businessman Necmettin Şimşek, used his defense to go on the attack. He said the mayor and those around him had caused harm to the public while claiming to act in the public's interest.
