A Royal Palace statement issued on October 30 placed Morocco’s commitment to a ceasefire at the center of its official position on the end of the UN mission in the Sahara, MINURSO. Morocco said it was satisfied that the mission’s mandate was not renewed but stressed it remains committed to the ceasefire. It also emphasized respect for its territorial integrity, national security and the reassurance of its citizens. The statement is especially significant as an existing military agreement and monitoring mechanisms face an unknown fate.
