Hackers posed as recruiters and conducted counterfeit job interviews with staff from the cryptocurrency exchange. During these conversations they extracted authentication credentials and other sensitive information. Using the stolen data, they transferred billions of dollars from Binance accounts. The operation demonstrated how social engineering can bypass technical safeguards. Authorities are investigating the scale of the breach.
