The first polls in the US midterm elections have closed in parts of Kentucky and Indiana, and vote counting is already underway there. Those two states are the first to move from balloting to tallying. Polls in additional states are expected to close over the coming hours. The staggered closings mean the count will build state by state as the night goes on.
