Reelección encubierta: JEE de Ica proclama como alcaldesa a la segunda regidora de la lista del actual alcalde de San Juan Bautista
The JEE of Ica named the second councilwoman from the current mayor of San Juan Bautista's list as the new mayor. The current mayor, Jorge Luis Quispe Saavedra, had run as the first councilman for Renovación Popular Perú after the original mayoral candidate resigned. The JEE of Ica decided against proclaiming him as mayor because it would mean immediate continuity in the role. This is prohibited by the Constitution to prevent the immediate reelection of mayors.
El actual alcalde, Jorge Luis Quispe Saavedra, postuló como primer regidor por Renovación Popular Perú, cuya candidata a la alcaldía renunció durante la contienda. El JEE de Ica consideró que proclamarlo como alcalde "supondría la continuidad inmediata" en el cargo, lo que la Constitución prohíbe al impedir la reelección inmediata de alcaldes.
