A new technology allows for the diagnosis of cataracts using a smartphone. This tool was developed by researchers at the Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, India, and Johns Hopkins University in the USA. The system works by taking photographs of the eye for assessment. Cataracts are listed as a primary cause of blindness globally.
