Salt that sells for 30 to 35 rupees per kilo in the market costs up to 200 rupees in remote villages of northern Gorkha. Residents of Chumanubri rural municipality face high transport costs because the area is not connected to the road network. That makes daily consumer goods, including salt, expensive for them.
