The director general of the Roads Department warned against indiscriminate installation of Bailey bridges, saying there should be no rush. He said improving approach roads to existing bridges would be more durable and safer than placing Bailey bridges in many locations. Otherwise, he added, monsoon floods are certain to wash away the structures.
