Matterhorn joins world geological heritage list

The Matterhorn has been added to the International Union of Geological Sciences list of geological heritage sites. The Swiss Academy of Sciences announced the news on Friday. The peak stands 4,478 meters high above Zermatt. It is the third site in Switzerland to receive this global recognition.
