Guyana Power and Light has asked customers to go easy on the grid or risk more blackouts. The utility wants households to adjust their air conditioning units instead of running them at full tilt during peak hours. It also told people not to raise the amperage of their fuses without permission, since that overloads the distribution network. GPL says the system is under enough strain already, and small changes at home could keep the lights on for everyone.
