Members of the Bahamas Educators Managerial Union went on strike, disrupting classes for around 40,000 students. Within hours, Education Minister Chester Cooper asked the Supreme Court to step in. Justice Darron Ellis granted an interim injunction ordering the strikers back to work and barring any continuation of the walkout.
Former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham has endorsed Andre Rollins in the race to lead the Free National Movement. This comes after a poll showed the party's support falling from 41% in November to below 35% in February. A large FNM meeting took place last night at a residence on Tonique Darling Highway. The report suggests current leader Pintard could be gone by the end of summer.
Leslia McIntosh, 25, is accused of stealing over 69,000 dollars from the Bahamian government. Prosecutors say she took the money while working at the Administrator's Office in Marsh Harbour. McIntosh has denied the charges.
