4 months' jail for driver who hit speed of up to 221kmh in Stamford Road joyride crash
A 26-year-old driver who reached speed of up to 221kmh during a group joyride that ended in a series of crashes along Stamford Road was sentenced to four months' jail.Goh Jared-Kane pleaded guilty to one charge of dangerous driving.He is the fifth driver in the group of six to be sentenced, and has been given a three-year driving ban.Four of them had been dealt with in June and July and also disqualified from driving for three years.The offence took place at about 1.30am on Oct 27, 2024, when he was driving a blue Mitsubishi Evo along the Central Expressway (CTE) towards the Ayer Rajah Expressway before continuing towards Stamford Road.According to court documents, Goh was travelling at an estimated 125kmh to 221kmh along a stretch of the CTE where the speed limit is 90kmh.He was also travelling at between 94kmh and 196kmh along another stretch of the CTE where the speed limit is 80kmh.By the time he reached the junction of Stamford Road and Victoria Street, Goh was estimated to be travelling at between 89kmh and 109kmh, despite the speed limit being 50kmh.
