The Ogun State Government has placed a young girl, Mistura Adebayo, in protective custody. The step came after she was reportedly found wandering on two separate occasions. Officials moved to take her off the streets and into state care. The government has also begun medical attention to establish her condition. How she ended up on her own remains unclear for now. Child welfare authorities are likely to trace her background before any decision about her future. Cases like hers draw attention to the wider issue of unsupervised children in the state.
