Hadjer-Lamis : 150 enseignants formés à la remédiation scolaire
Massakory, the administrative centre of Chad's Hadjer-Lamis province, opened a training workshop on remediation classes on Monday 19 October. In total, 150 teachers are being trained in methods designed to help pupils who have slipped behind catch up with their peers. The Ministry of National Education, Bilingualism and Civic Promotion organised the session through PARAEB, its project for improving learning outcomes in basic education. Remediation classes exist to give lagging students another chance at core skills before the gaps between them and their classmates widen. Participants are working through techniques for diagnosing weak spots and re-teaching material so that struggling pupils can actually absorb it. Basic education across Chad has long battled with limited resources, which is why the ministry treats targeted teacher training as a priority. Once the workshop wraps up, the trained teachers are expected to carry the new approaches back into classrooms across the province.
