The report, dated 3 Kartik in Kathmandu, places the auspicious time for applying tika during Bada Dashain at 10:26 a.m. in Nepal. Wednesday is identified as Vijayadashami, the day central to the festival. Observers outside Nepal will generally find a different date and time for the ritual. An international panchang, or Hindu almanac, decision committee calculates separate auspicious periods for different countries. The favorable dates for Bada Dashain therefore vary by location. The report says each country’s timing is based on its own calculations. It does not provide the individual times for places outside Nepal.
