Temba Bavuma struck 179 for South Africa against Australia. The performance was described as majestic and may eventually be remembered as the defining innings of his career. South Africa needed a hero at the crease, and Bavuma delivered the major contribution the team required. He said, "I'm happy I was able to get one against Australia." His brief reaction centered on the satisfaction of producing a major score against that opponent. The 179-run total became the centerpiece of South Africa's batting effort.
