Aso Villa: YPP candidate warns Sowore, others
Peter Agada, the presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party, has cautioned Omoyele Sowore against using the Presidential Villa as a campaign venue. He called the Villa a high-security facility that should not double as a stage for political gatherings. In his view, campaigners who parade at the gates of the seat of power are chasing attention rather than votes. Sowore, an activist who has run for president before, is known for loud, confrontational politics and a record of staging protests in restricted places. Agada said candidates should take their messages to places where voters actually gather and live their daily lives. He warned that treating the Villa like a billboard erodes respect for institutions that belong to all Nigerians. The warning lands in a season when candidates are scrambling for attention before the vote. Sowore has not publicly responded to the remark.
