The Brazilian stock market experienced a sharp decline on Monday. This drop followed the unexpected election victory of left-wing president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Trading was automatically halted as a result. This is the first time such a halt has occurred since the 2020 coronavirus crisis.
