The US Naval Command has advised neutral ships to avoid unnecessary passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Vessels traveling between neutral ports may be questioned, visited, or inspected to ensure compliance with the blockade against Iran. This warning comes as Iranian attacks on ships have reached a war-like level. Nearly 30 such attacks occurred in October alone.
