Stakeholders review proposal to strengthen Belize’s Climate Resilience

The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) gathered key stakeholders in Belmopan on October 6 for a workshop on a proposed climate project. As Belize's accredited entity for the Green Climate Fund, PACT is steering the proposal intended to strengthen the country's resilience to climate impacts. The session ran as a Review and Validation Workshop, with participants working through the first draft of the project document. They pressed on the goals of the proposal and flagged where it still fell short. Feedback gathered in the room will shape revisions before the plan moves ahead in the funding process. Organizers want the project to reflect needs on the ground rather than assumptions drawn up on paper. Belize, like much of the region, keeps facing heavier storms and flooding that test its defences.
