Declaran Alerta Roja en toda la RM por intensa lluvia y granizos en diversas comunas
Chile's national disaster prevention agency, Senapred, declared a red alert for the entire Metropolitan Region on Tuesday afternoon. The warning covers intense rain and hail expected to affect Santiago and surrounding communes. Hail was reported in Pudahuel, Maipú, San Bernardo, Curacaví, San Miguel, Quilicura and Puente Alto. Those reports came from Radio Biobío listeners cited by La Nación. The red alert is the highest level in Chile's emergency warning system. It indicates a risk of severe weather across a densely populated area rather than in one municipality. Residents in the affected communes were advised to follow Senapred's instructions and remain alert to changing conditions.
