Pakistan's security forces say they foiled a terrorism attempt in Gwadar, the port city in the country's southwest, and killed ten militants in the operation. The Inter Services Public Relations, the military's media wing, reported that the action covered the city, its surroundings and the border crossing at Gabd. According to the ISPR account, the attempt was sponsored by India, a claim the military attaches to most attacks it attributes to its neighbour. Clearance operations left ten terrorists dead, among them a woman involved in the plot. The militants' attack cost the life of one civilian, whom the military described as martyred, and several other people were hurt in the violence. The forces said the operation stopped the group before it could strike and brought the area back under control. Gwadar sits at the center of Chinese backed development projects, which has made it a repeated target in recent years. The military maintained that the clearance in the city and at the border crossing had been completed.
