At least $68,200 have been lost to scams involving tickets for the BTS' Arirang tour in Singapore, with at least 62 cases reported since June 1, said the police. BTS is scheduled to perform at the National Stadium on Dec 17, 19, 20 and 22.In a statement on Wednesday (June 10), the police said that in most cases, scammers approached victims through the social media platform X. More recently, victims would come across the sale of concert tickets on social media platforms such as Instagram and Carousell.In the reported cases, victims came across online posts advertising concert tickets and were instructed to make payment via PayNow or by scanning a PayNow QR code.After receiving the initial payment, scammers would often request additional transfers, claiming the money was needed for administrative fees. Victims realised they had been scammed when the promised tickets failed to arrive.

SINGAPORE — A maid agency has been ordered by the court to compensate a bedridden elderly woman $1,558 after it was found to have misrepresented the ability of one of its foreign domestic workers to speak Mandarin when the helper could not do so.A tribunal magistrate ruled after a Small Claims Tribunals (SCT) hearing that the agency’s actions amounted to an unfair practice under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act.The identities of the woman, the maid agency and its representative were redacted in the written grounds of decision issued on June 9. The agency was described as “a migrant domestic worker (MDW) employment agency with several branches across (Singapore)”.In the decision, tribunal magistrate Leon Abraham Tan found that the agency’s description of the maid’s language abilities was so inaccurate that the elderly woman was effectively unable to communicate with the person hired to care for her.The woman, bedridden due to a stroke and Parkinson’s disease, speaks mostly Mandarin and understands little English. She needed a maid who could communicate with her.

El expresidente Gabriel Boric (2022-2026) condenó este martes por la noche las retenciones bancarias masivas aplicadas a los morosos del Crédito con Aval del Estado (CAE), advirtiendo que «a esos deudores les vacían sus cuentas corrientes intempestivamente generando graves situaciones de crisis en las economías familiares». A través de un mensaje en su cuenta de X, el fundador del Frente Amplio y antiguo líder estudiantil apuntó al actual Gobierno por el estancamiento de las condonaciones durante su mandato. «Pese a que teníamos consenso técnico, durante nuestro gobierno la derecha se negó a legislar para tener un nuevo sistema de financiamiento de la educación superior y aliviar significativamente la deuda del CAE a miles de personas que han pagado por años montos mucho mayores que el valor de sus carreras», comenzó señalando. «Inaceptable contradicción» Boric acusó una «inaceptable contradicción» en las prioridades legislativas del Congreso, arremetiendo contra los sectores políticos que validan estas acciones de cobro ejecutivo en desmedro de la fiscalización a las grandes redes delictivas, en una referencia que apunta directamente a la derecha parlamentaria por resistirse al mecanismo para facilitar el levantamiento del secreto bancario. «Y mientras esto sucede a costa de la clase media, los mismos que justifican este castigo a familias endeudadas, votan en contra de habilitar el levantamiento del secreto bancario, pese a que ya no hay dudas que el crimen organizado ocupa la banca para blanquear y mover sus recursos», enfatizó. En la misma línea, el exjefe de Estado cuestionó el foco de la rigidez de las instituciones: «¿Dónde están las prioridades? ¿Por qué hay inflexibilidad y castigo para familias trabajadoras y sacrificadas que están endeudadas y se sigue siendo permisivo con los negocios del crimen organizado con el que todos queremos terminar?», agregó. Luego de que la senadora Camila Flores (Renovación Nacional) lo acusara públicamente de estar coludido para difundir fotografías íntimas suyas en redes sociales, su exmarido, Percy Marín, descartó este martes haber promovido la viralización de dicho material y negó cualquier participación en las denuncias anónimas por fraude al fisco que hoy complican judicialmente a la parlamentaria, precisando que cuando estas se presentaron, ambos mantenían una «relación matrimonial normal». «No he ejercido jamás actos de violencia en contra de ella. Tampoco he participado o promovido, ni coordinado la filtración ni divulgación de imágenes privadas, todo lo cual actualmente es objeto de una investigación. Quiero ser absolutamente claro en esto: rechazo profunda y francamente lo ocurrido y me preocupa cualquier vulneración de la intimidad y privacidad de las personas», enfatizó el exconsejero regional RN en un video que definió como su «primera y última declaración pública» tras la controversia. Sin embargo, aclaró que los videos de los hechos efectivamente existen, pero que «fueron captados de manera lícita a través de una plataforma a la cual ambos teníamos acceso como también las cuidadoras de nuestra hija», y que «estos videos se encuentran en custodia del equipo jurídico y desde ayer en manos de la PDI». Además, advirtió que «existe el riesgo de que la divulgación pública de estos antecedentes puedan tener la intención de afectar o desestimar las pruebas que sustentan la demanda de divorcio culposo». «Faltar a la verdad» En su defensa, Marín calificó de «particularmente injusto» que se intente instalar una narrativa pública donde se le dibuje como un hombre «violento, despechado y obsesionado», asegurando que fue sacado de su hogar mediante una denuncia que posteriormente quedó sin efecto, lo que lo alejó de su hija por más de 100 días. De igual manera, desmintió que el matrimonio terminara porque la legisladora quisiera rehacer su vida, afirmando que el quiebre se debió a una grave vulneración al deber de fidelidad. Finalmente, el otrora core lanzó una dura acusación respecto a cómo se habría integrado la nueva pareja de la senadora a sus labores profesionales: «La realidad es que mientras intentaba comprender lo ocurrido y enfrentar uno de los momentos más difíciles de mi vida, el tercero involucrado, con el cual (Flores) me fue infiel, fue incorporado a los dos días de mi forzosa salida del hogar común, incorporándolo al equipo parlamentario desempeñando funciones de exclusiva confianza y pagado con dineros del Congreso». Marín concluyó señalando que si bien toda persona tiene derecho a buscar su felicidad, «a lo que nadie tiene derecho es a faltar a la verdad para transformarse en víctima y convertir a quien sufrió las consecuencias de esos hechos en victimario», cerrando la puerta a nuevas apariciones mediales para resguardar el bienestar de la hija en común de la expareja.
