Joint Communiqué on the Visit of the President of Somalia H. E. Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed to Eritrea   At the official invitation of H. E. President Isaias Afwerki, H. E. Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed, President of Somalia, visited Eritrea from 10-11 January, 2020. During the visit, the two leaders held frank and extensive talks on bilateral relations and regional matters of common interest. The two Presidents noted with satisfaction the robust growth in bilateral cooperation since the signing of their Joint Declaration on Friendship and Comprehensive Cooperation on July 29, 2018 in Asmara. The two Heads of State also appreciated the progress in the cooperation between Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia based on their Tripartite Agreement of September 2018. The two leaders stressed that, despite lingering challenges and difficulties, the regional climate remains conducive for effective and durable cooperation in the Horn of Africa. Presidents Isaias and Mohammed rededicated themselves to strengthening their efforts to advance the Tripartite Agreement as well as overall regional cooperation. On the situation in Somalia, the two leaders lauded the considerable progress that has been made, while, at the same time, affirming that the full reconstitution of Somalia has yet to be achieved. This requires, first and foremost, the establishment of effective and strong national institutions, including defense and security institutions, as well as the resuscitation of the nation’s economy and social infrastructure. Accordingly, they agreed to redouble their joint efforts to consolidate Somali national sovereignty, peace and security and to boost socio-economic development. The two leaders called on all friends and partners of Somalia and the region to support Somalia’s determination to set its own priorities and to strengthen its national institutions and capabilities. President Mohammed Abdullahi thanked his host President Isaias for his hospitality and for Eritrea’s unwavering solidarity with Somalia. Issued in Asmara, Eritrea, on 11 January 2020.

Asmara 10 January 2019- President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed of the Federal Republic of Somalia arrived in mid morning hours of today, 10 January for two-day working visit in Eritrea.Upon arrival at the Asmara International Airport, President Mohamed and his delegation were accorded warm welcome by President Isaias Afwerki.President Isaias Afwerki and President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed in their first meeting at State House held extensive discussion on the progress of bilateral ties as well as regional issues of vital interest to both countries.The two leaders noted that the multi-faceted Eritrea-Somalia bilateral ties have progressed at a remarkable pace in the past year and half since the signing of the Bilateral Agreement of Friendship and Cooperation in Asmara in July 2018.The two Presidents similarly expressed satisfaction at progress made so far in the implementation of the Tripartite Agreement signed between Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia; and agreed to step up their collective efforts for consolidation of the tripartite cooperation and regional integrationAs regards the situation in Somalia, both leaders noted positive achievements registered so far and underlined on the importance of exerting more efforts to bolster key institutions, especially in the security and defense sectors, rehabilitation of the economy and infrastructure. They also agreed both countries to pool resources to that endPresident Isaias Afwerki and President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed urged all friends and partners of Somalia to extend substantive support to it so as to bolster the institutions and national capabilities of the country on the basis of the priorities set by Somalis themselves.

According to report, the Eritrean Community festival in Australia was conducted from 3-5 January in Melbourne under the theme “Resilience for Higher Progress” featuring cultural and artistic performances. Speaking at the 20th annual festival that was attended by nationals from various cities of Australia and New Zealand as well as invited guests, Mr. Tekeste Mehari, General Consul at the Eritrean Embassy in Australia, stating that various infrastructures that can serve as springboard for lasting development were implemented in 2019 said that double fold effort will be exerted in the New Year in ensuring the development of the country and called for reinforced contribution on the part of nationals. Indicating that regional peace and cooperation guarantees national development Mr. Mehari stated that the Government of Eritrea is engaged in regional and international cooperation and diplomatic activities aimed at ensuring mutual interest. The three day annual festival was highlighted by pictorial exhibitions, cultural performances and dances as well as musical dramas depicting the heroic feats demonstrated during the armed struggle for independence and in safeguarding the national sovereignty. Likewise, a musical and cultural performance called “Zur Bidho” was organized in Stockholm, Sweden, on 4 January with enthusiasm, report indicated.

At the event that was attended by Mr. Woldemicael Abraha, Minister of Local Government, and Brig. Gen. Tekle Libsu, Governor of the Northern Red Sea region, Mr. Zeresenai Gaim, administrator of the Gahtelai semi-urban center commended those that contributed for the successful organization of the celebration. Indicating that national Holidays are forums for respect to each other and unity of the Eritrean people, Mr. Omar Haj Yahya, administrator of Ghinda sub-zone, wished the Eritrean people Merry Christmas. At the occasion, Minister Woldemicael Abraha handed over special price to Mr. Ahmed Hamid Shbolain, former administrator of Ghatelai semi-urban center, for his contribution in the development of the semi-urban center. Asmara, 07 January 2020- Senior Eritrean delegation comprising of Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Presidential Advisor Mr. Yemane Gebreab and Mr. Hagos Gebrehiwet, head of Economic Affairs at the PFDJ, participated at the Ministerial Meeting of Arab and African Coastal States of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden convened in Riyadh. At the meeting hosted by King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia on 6 January, Minister Osman Saleh reiterated Eritrea’s position that the Arab and African Coastal States of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden shoulder primary responsibility for the security and development of the Red Sea. Minister Osman further stated that the objective must be to build an effective regional organization with requisite competence and capability. The Ministers that attended the meeting also signed the Charter of the Establishment of the Council of Arab and African Coastal States of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The document will be presented to the Heads of State of the eight member states. After the meeting, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi received the Ministers and expressed the Kingdom’s commitment to the Red Sea Cooperation. In the same vein, Mr. Yemane Gebremeskel, Minister of Information, met and held talks today, 7 January, in Riyadh with the Saudi Minister of Media, Mr. Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah. The discussion between the two ministers was focused on scope and modalities of cooperation between the two Ministries in promoting multi-faceted investment and trade as well as security and development in the Red Sea.

The Infrastructural Development in the Southern region reported that in 2019 projects worth 17 million Nakfa have been implemented. Mendefera, 04 January 2020- The Infrastructural Development in the Southern region reported that in 2019 projects worth 17 million Nakfa have been implemented. The projects include construction and renovation of social service provision institutions as well as construction of agricultural infrastructure. At an activity assessment meeting conducted on 2 January in Mendefera, the D. G. of Infrastructural Development in the region, Mr. Gebru Haile said that new schools and additional class rooms have been constructed in the villages of Kudo-Felasi, Geza-Gobo, Adi-Guebo, Newih-Zban, Aregit-Mekrem and Adebrahim. Mr. Gebru went on to say that the residents of the sub-zones of Emni-Haili, Dubarwa and Adi-Keih have also constructed 49 km feeder roads through popular campaigns. Mr. Gebru further noted that master plans of villages and semi-urban centers in six sub-zones have also been finalized. Likewise, new terraces have been constructed in Mai-Dima and Adi-Golgol and waiting building for pregnant women in Dubarwa. Indicating on the significance of the community based participation in the implementation of development programs, Mr. Habteab Tesfatsion, Governor of the Southern region, called for the sustainability of the newly constructed and renovated roads.

Barentu, 03 January 2019- 90 youth workers from the city of Barentu have conducted tour on 28 and 29 December to the dams of Misilam and Tekera and the agricultural developments in the areas as well as the solar system project and Mai-Nefhi College of Social Science. According to Mr. Abdulwehab Suleiman, head of the National Union if Eritrean Youth and Students branch in Barentu sub-zone, indicated that the objective of the program was to increase the understanding of the youth on the development activities being conducted outside their areas and expressed appreciation to those that contributed to the success of the program. Indicting on the significance of the tour, the participants said that the briefings they received from the project coordinators has contributed in increasing their understanding and called for organizing similar programs to other parts of the country. At the occasion, the Chairman of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students, Mr. Saleh Ahmedin conducted seminar to the tour participants on the objective situation in the homeland and on the opportunities being created and called on the youth to take advantage of the opportunities and strengthen participation in the national development drives.

Eritrea is to host regional beach volleyball tournament at the Girgusum seashore, the port city of Massawa, that will be held from 4 to 7 January. Asmara, 03 January 2020- Eritrea is to host regional beach volleyball tournament at the Girgusum seashore, the port city of Massawa, that will be held from 4 to 7 January. According to Mr. Michael Teklemicael, President of the National Volleyball Federation, Eritrea will participate in the tournament by both sexes. In the first phase competition for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualification five national teams from Eritrea, Sudan, Rwanda, Egypt and South Sudan will participate. The national teams of Sudan, Rwanda and Egypt have already arrived in Asmara and the national team of South Sudan is expected to arrive tomorrow, 4 January. Upon arrival at the Asmara International Airport today, 3 January, the national teams of Sudan, Rwanda and Egypt were welcomed by the President of the National Volleyball Federation, Mr. Michael Teklemicael and President of the African Volleyball Confederation-Zone 5, Mr. Gustave Nkurunziza.

Honorable Eritrean citizens inside the country and abroad! On the auspicious occasion of the New Year, I convey my best wishes to the people of Eritrea and its defense forces for the year ahead – for 2020. More than any other time in the past, we are bidding farewell to the year 2019 perched on the pinnacle of hope and confidence. Indeed, in addition to auspicious regional developments, the principal factor that enabled us to usher in a favourable and promising platform is our domestic strength and capabilities. It is because we chose to pursue an independent trajectory; to close our ranks; as well as face all adversity with spiritual equanimity. After an arduous journey engulfing three generations, we are welcoming the 2020 New Year with more prospective opportunities against the backdrop of new and conducive international and regional climate. And by scaling the minor remnant challenges, we shall make this year a harbinger of a more gracious and brighter future. Today, as ever before, our victory is certain; because we possess the attributes of implementing in practice our lofty aspirations; because we ultimately emerge triumphant and because of our characteristic resilience. According to reports, roads that have strategic social-economic importance are under construction in the Gash Barka region. Barentu, 30 December 2029- According to reports, roads that have strategic social-economic importance are under construction in the Gash Barka region. The roads that are under construction by the Adi-Halo project and Segen and Bidho Construction Companies include 160 km Kerklebet-Haranait road, about 36 km from Forto to Tamarat through Wakai, as well as renovation of 70 km road from Bisha to Forto Sawa and asphalting 110 km Tesenei-Omahajer road. The coordinator of the construction of the Kerkebet-Haranait road, Mr. Fekadu Tekle, from Adi-Halo Project, indicating the significance of the road in the socio-economic development of the country said that the machinery assisted construction also includes construction of bridges. More over, the roads under construction linking Forto with Tamarat and Bisha with Forto will significantly reduce the existed kilometers that people could have travelled by vehicles. The residents in the areas commending the construct of the roads expressed expectation that upon completion the roads will significantly contribute in improving their livelihoods.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of PFDJ in the Central region, Mr. Yosuf Saiq said that in 2020 the Front will exert strong effort in strengthening the PFDJ, safeguarding the national sovereignty as well as ensuring social justice. Indicating that the effort demonstrated in supporting the families of martyrs as well as the campaign conducted to collect harvests attest the increased awareness of citizens, Mr. Yosuf called for reinforced participation in the nation building process. Pointing out that more effort will be exerted to ensure social service provision in general and that of potable water supply, Maj. Gen. Romodan Osman Aweliay, Governor of the Central region said that the renovation of roads in Asmara will continue in the coming year. In the same vein, the Secretary of the PFDJ, Mr. Alamin Mohammed Seid conducted seminar to civil servant in the Central region on the objective situation in the homeland and programs for 2020. Mr. Alamin said that improving the livelihoods of citizens and social service provision institutions are among the priority tasks for 2020.

Barentu, 28 December 2019 – Commendable development projects including ensuring potable water supply, construction and renovation of roads and bridges, enhancing agricultural produce and livestock, supporting disadvantaged families, forestation and water conservation activities have been conducted in Gash Barka region through the coordination of the Western Command Development Front, report indicated. The comment was made during an activity assessment meeting the Western Command Development Front conducted on 25 December in Barentu. Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of the Western Command Development Front, Brig. Gen. Tekle Kiflay stated that the development activities were conducted through the participation and coordination of the public, members of the defense forces, Segen and Bidho construction companies, Crop and Livestock Corporation, line ministries and associations, PFDJ, National Service Training Center, as well as other stakeholders. Brig. Gen. Tekle also confirmed that as a result of the activities conducted the socio-economic status of residents have improved significantly. Stating that encouraging outcome has been registered from the development activity particularly in ensuring potable water supply and forestation activities Brig. Gen. Tekle further indicated that construction of schools and other social service rendering institutions, construction and renovation of roads, forestation and environmental sanitation activities will be given priority in 2020. At the assessment meeting, sub zonal administrations have presented annual activity reports. Participants also called for reinforced organization capacity of the Western Command Development Front. Finally, Mr. Abraha Garza, Governor of Gash Barka region gave a speech regarding development program for 2020 and said that focus will be given in water and soil conservation activities, reinforcing environmental health, ensuring quality of education and students’ school enrolment and outcome.

During the visit, President Isaias Afwerki and Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed held extensive discussion on the implementation of tangible joint development programs and infrastructural linkages in 2020 in accordance with the friendship and peace agreement signed between the two countries in Asmara on 9 July 2018. President Isaias and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed underlined that both Governments are working to redouble efforts to achieve peace and develop strong bilateral cooperation in several sectors. Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed also on 26 December hosted dinner reception in honor of President Isaias and his delegation. Asmara, 26 December 2019- President Isaias Afwerki and Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed today laid the foundation stone for the new Eritrean Embassy building in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed described the occasion as “Christmas gift to the people and Government of the people of Ethiopia to the people and Government of Eritrea”. Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed also expressed readiness in 2020 to strengthen cooperation with Eritrea in all sectors. President Isaias on his part expressed gratitude for the hospitality accorded to his delegation and reiterated Eritrea’s resolute decision to work with requisite vigor to recoup lost opportunities by three generation to bolster new chapter of cooperation between the two countries. President Isaias also wished Happy New Year to the people and Government of Ethiopia. President Isaias Afwerki met on 23 December in Abu Dhabi with Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayd Al Nahyan. The meeting was focused on the historic friendship and cooperation between Eritrea and the United Arab Emirates in various development projects especially in the sectors of agriculture, energy and investment.   Asmara, 24 December 2019- President Isaias Afwerki met on 23 December in Abu Dhabi with Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayd Al Nahyan. The meeting was focused on the historic friendship and cooperation between Eritrea and the United Arab Emirates in various development projects especially in the sectors of agriculture, energy and investment. The two sides also discussed in greater length on prospects of cooperation as well as regional and global developments of interest to the two countries. The meeting was attended by Mr. Amin Hassen, Director of the Office of the President on the Eritrean side and Sheik Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheik Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and other UAE senior officials. The Ministry of Marine Resources in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China organized training to 71 including 21 female staff members of the Ministry on sea farming and its technical management. Massawa, 21 December 2019- The Ministry of Marine Resources in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China organized training to 71 including 21 female staff members of the Ministry on sea farming and its technical management. The 21 days training that was provided by Chinese experts included Chinese experience in fish farming, refrigeration and conservation, health and capacity of fish and fish nutrition. Indicating on the effort being conducted to develop human resources, Mr. Yohannes Teklemariam, D. G. of Research and Human Resources Development at the Ministry, said that the objective of the training was to develop the capacity of the staff members. Commanding the interest the trainees demonstrated during the program, Dr. Jing Xiaojun, Director of Fresh Water Fisheries Research Center of Chinese Academy of Fishery Science, expressed expectation that in the near future Eritrea will register quick development in fish industry. Mr. Yang Zigang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Eritrea, on his part said that Eritrea in this new era needs productive human resources equipped with modern knowledge and expressed readiness to contribute in the effort. Mr. Tewolde Kelati, Minister of Marine Resources said that the training will have significant contribution in the development of the sector and called on the trainees to apply the training they received practically on the ground.

Asmara, 21 December 2019- Mr. Alamin Mohammed-Seid, Secretary of the PFDJ, conducted seminar to members of the Central Committee of the National Union of Eritrean Women focusing on the objective situation in the homeland. Indicating that Eritrea since 2017 is working by establishing three Development Fronts inside the country and one in the Diaspora, Mr. Alamin said that the big development programs that are expected to be accomplished by 2020 include roads construction, ensuring supply of potable water and electricity power as well as construction of residential houses. Pointing out that the small and big dams that were constructed since 1994 are significantly contributing in ensuring potable water supply, Mr. Alamin said that the effort to construct water catchment infrastructure is ongoing process. Mr. Alamin went on to say that in 2020 the PFDJ will exert more effort in realizing the vision of the country and upholding the values of the Front as well as organizing citizenship training programs.

The Eritrean national team that was participating at the CECAFA 2019 Senior Challenge Cup in Uganda became winner of silver medal by standing second place. Asmara, 20 December 2019- The Eritrean national team that was participating at the CECAFA 2019 Senior Challenge Cup in Uganda became winner of silver medal by standing second place. The Eritrean national team was defeated 3-0 by the Uganda national team at the final competition held on 19 December. The Eritrean national team reached to the final stage of the competition for the first time in 28 years by winning the National teams of Burundi, Djibouti, and Kenya and by drawing 0-0 with Somalia. In the same vein the Eritrean Women National team that was in the similar competition returned home in the afternoon hours of 19 December. Upon arrival at the Asmara International Airport the national team was welcomed by Ambassador Zemede Tekle, Commissioner of Culture and Sports, as well as other officials in the Commission. Likewise, at a meeting conducted on 18 December in Kampala new CECAFA executive committee and new president were elected. According to report, Mr. Isaias Abraham, President of the National Football Federation of Eritrea, was elected member of the executive committee. President of the National Football Federation of Tanzania was elected as new president of CECAFA, First Deputy President from the Republic of South Sudan and Deputy President from Ethiopia.

Call was made for integrated effort to curb deforestation activities and enrich forestation in the Central region, report indicates. Asmara, 20 December 2019 – Call was made for integrated effort to curb deforestation activities and enrich forestation in the Central region, report indicates. The call was made by Mr. Hailemicael Eyob, D.G. of Agriculture in the Central region during an annual activity assessment meeting on 17 and 18 in Asmara focusing on agricultural activities, as well as forest and wildlife development conducted. At the meeting, Mr. Hailemicael stated that ample rainfall was registered this year which was 112.4mm higher than that of last year. At the meeting, statistical reports were presented on wild life resources, seed development, water and soil conservation activities, irrigation, as well as on the activities of Forest and Wild Life Authority among others. It was also indicated that almost all of 25,313 hectares of land ploughed for farming was cultivated. Speaking at the event, Minister of Agriculture Mr. Arefaine Berhe called for proper follow up on the implementation and control of all laid out agricultural programs both by the Ministry and regional administration. Governor of the Central region, Maj. Gen. Romodan Osman Awliai on his part stated that strong effort is being conducted on the part of the regional administration to ensure sustained water and soil conservation activity as it is the foundation of agricultural development.

Eritrea's senior delegation composed of Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Adviser Yemane Ghebreab yesterday 19 December met, in Riyadh, with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and other officials. Asmara, 20 December 2019 – Eritrea's senior delegation composed of Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Adviser Yemane Ghebreab yesterday 19 December met, in Riyadh, with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and other officials. The two sides noted with satisfaction the growing relations between the two countries over the past year with the aim of building a strategic partnership. They discussed ways and means of enhancing bilateral cooperation and coordination in development, trade and investment sectors. The two sides further agreed to step up efforts to combat common regional threats. The Saudi Foreign Minister accepted the invitation from his counterpart to visit Asmara at his earliest convenience. The National Union of Eritrean Women Executive Committee conducted its 11th regular meeting on 16 and 17 December in Asmara. Asmara, 18 December 2019- The National Union of Eritrean Women Executive Committee conducted its 11th regular meeting on 16 and 17 December in Asmara. At the meeting in which members of the executive committee from inside the country and abroad took part, report was presented focusing on the activities conducted in 2019, achievements registered and challenges encountered. According to the report presented the activities conducted in 2019 include the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the union, effort to increase awareness of women, strengthening organizational capacity, recruiting  young women to the union, as well as promotional activities to eradicate harmful practices that are affecting the development of women. The participants conducted extensive discussion on the reports presented and adopted various recommendations that could have significant contribution in the implementation of programs for 2020. Speaking at the occasion, Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael, President of the union, underlined readiness of the union to strengthen organizational capacity and participation in the national development endeavors. The National Union of Eritrean Women has about 350 thousand registered members.

Eritrea qualified for the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup final following their 4-1 comprehensive victory over Kenya in the first mid-afternoon semi-final of the annual championship at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo in Kampala, Uganda yesterday. Asmara, 18 December 2019 -  Eritrea qualified for the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup final following their 4-1 comprehensive victory over Kenya in the first mid-afternoon semi-final of the annual championship at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo in Kampala, Uganda yesterday. Eritrea got it first goal from Kenya’s striker Oscar Wamalwa’s own goal in the 18th minute. Three second half goals from Abel Solomon, Michael Habte and  Robel Kidane stamped the victory for Eritrea. Wamalwa pulled back a goal for Kenya but it was not enough to save the Kenyans from the humiliation. Eritrea deservedly took the lead after Robel Kidane’s shot was deflected into the net by forward Wamalwa past goalkeeper Samuel Odhiambo. Eritrea doubled the lead through Okbay’s long range shot from the right wing flew over goalkeeper Odhiambo four minutes into the second half. Three minutes later, Kenya quickly pulled back a goal through Wamalwa following a cut back by Lawrence Juma. Robel Kidane made it four for Eritrea in the 75th minute, virtually an icing on the already baked cake. Eritrea majestically walked to the finals and awaits host country Uganda.

Meningitis vaccination program was officially launched in the Anseba region at a ceremony conducted on 13 December in Keren. Keren, 14 December 2019- Meningitis vaccination program was officially launched in the Anseba region at a ceremony conducted on 13 December in Keren. Speaking at the event, the Governor of the Anseba region, Mr. Mahmud Ali expressed readiness of the regional administration to play its part in the success of the program and called on the sub-zonal administrations, stakeholders and the public to strengthen participation. Noting that the successful implementation of vaccination programs in Eritrea have been the result of the increased awareness of the public, Dr. Kesetebrhan Solomon, head of the Ministry of Health branch in the region, said that sufficient experience had been gained from the implementation of the program in the other regions. Mr. Biniam Fesehatsion, head of Family and Community Health, said that according the plan the program will cover over 400 thousand citizens from age 1 to 30 and that every preparation has been finalized to successfully conduct the program. It is to be recalled that meningitis vaccination program has been conducted in the regions of Central, Northern Red Sea and Southern Red Sea from 15 to 30 November.

In his key note address, Mr. Alem Kidane, D. G. of Mining at the Ministry of Energy and Mining, said that before independence few Eritrean Earth Scientists residing in Europe used to meet at the annual Eritrean festival in Bologna and came with the idea of supporting in the geological and hydro geological studies that were conducted for road construction. Mr. Alem went on to say that the establishment of the association will have significant contribution in the development of the mining sector in the country. The participants conducted extensive discussion on the draft constitution of the association and on the process of election of executive members and board of advisors. At the event research papers were presented focusing earth science and mining, human resources development as well as earth science related researches. Indicating on the significance of establishing the association of the Society of Eritrean Earth Science and Mining Engineers, Ms. Lewam Asfaw, assistant lecturer at the Eritrean Institute of Technology, called for due attention to the students of Mining Engineering for better outcome. The congress also elected five members executive committee.
