Senegal: President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has vowed a «relentless hunt» on migrant traffickers a day after news that at least 35 people had drowned off West Africa. Senegal's coasts are one of the main departure points for migrants heading to Europe, through overloaded and unseaworthy boats.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw Thursday on the final leg of a European tour in which Ukrainian officials repeatedly asked to use Western-supplied weaponry for long-range strikes inside Russia.

Ukraine: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Thursday that Russia has started a counter-offensive in its western Kursk region, where Ukraine launched a major incursion last month. Russia said its troops have recaptured 10 settlements in Kursk.
