The Icelandic Coast Guard received a call about a coastal fishing boat that was caught in a leak just before eleven o’clock last night. One man was on board and he was taken to the hospital.

Unable to get up again after taking a hard fall to the floor, an elderly man living alone in the Jalan Kukoh area called his church friend for help. When the latter arrived, the man surnamed Chin, who is in his 70s, was trapped in the kitchen of his cluttered two-room flat and could not open the locked door to let his friend in, reported Shin Min Daily News on Wednesday (July 3). The friend, Terry, managed to use a hook to retrieve Chin's house keys through the open window.  Terry found the elderly man lying on a very messy floor and called an ambulance.  While Chin was in the hospital, Terry thought of cleaning up his home, but realised he could not do so alone due to the large amount of clutter. He then contacted charity organisation Helping Joy, which helps hoarders declutter, on June 18. Volunteer Irene Woon told Shin Min that 25 volunteers decluttered and cleaned the flat on Sunday (June 30). They cleared about six to seven large bins of items from Chin's home, she added. In a Facebook post on Monday, Helping Joy shared photos of the flat before and after it was decluttered and cleaned.

'It all feels weird'  Resident Huang Xizhen (transliteration) said that she was aware of the banner, but added that she would feel harassed if strangers were to stare at her window from outside. «It does not matter if it's just looking or being stared at. It all feels weird,» said the 35-year-old. «I hope this form of art doesn't affect others.»

The Aride Island Nature Reserve is temporarily closed in response to the beginning of the south east monsoon, the Island Conservation Society (ICS) announced on Tuesday. ICCS, which manages the reserve, said the closure has been effective since Monday as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of visitors, staff, and local wildlife. The southeast monsoon which begins in May and ends in October reaches its peak in July bringing adverse weather, which includes strong winds and rough seas. ICS said this poses significant risks as all boats coming to Aride must disembark directly on the beach. «At this time of the year, we are already observing that the beach is eroding, and therefore all operations on the island will be greatly affected,» said Greg Berke, director for conservation and science. The closure will remain in place until the end of September, though the opening month may change based on weather developments. However, in recent years, we have noticed a decrease in boats coming close to the Reserve to fish or poach wildlife,» noted Bentley, adding that the team on Aride remains vigilant. Aride Island Nature Reserve is located 10 km north of Praslin, the second most populated island of Seychelles. The island is entirely funded by ICS, a not-for-profit organisation based in Seychelles with conservation centres on five other islands in the archipelago. Since late November 2023, 2,000 visitors have landed on Aride Island and most came on private vessels or booked via agencies in Seychelles, an archipelago in the western Indian Ocean. Among the visitors were schoolchildren from La Misère and Anse Royale Primary schools. The island also welcomes volunteers from various international educational institutes for research purposes or work experiences, including students from the Seychelles Maritime Academy. A Delhi court on Wednesday extended chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody in the money laundering case linked to the now-junked excise policy case. The Extension includes co-accused Vinod Chauhan, with both individuals' custody now extended till July 12. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating Kejriwal and Chauhan in connection with alleged money laundering activities. According to the ED, Vinod Chauhan allegedly transferred Rs 1.06 crore through hawala routes to fund the Aam Aadmi Party's election campaign during the 2022 Goa assembly elections.
