A 109-year-old Shiva temple, connected to Kashmir's former royal family, burned down in a dawn fire on Wednesday in the tourist town of Gulmarg, 55 kilometers from Srinagar. Constructed in 1915 by Mohini Bai Sisodia, the queen of Kashmir’s last king Maharaja Hari Singh, the temple—Mohinishwar Shivalaya Shiv Mandir, also known as Maharani temple—was perched on a hillock surrounded by meadows.

SINGAPORE - A pre-school teacher was suspended after an investigation found that she had kicked a five-year-old girl in her right shin to make her sit properly on April 2. The police confirmed that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing. The childcare centre did not respond to ST’s queries about the incident.
