Mogadishu (HOL) - The Somali Office of the Auditor General has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Egypt’s Accountability State Authority (ASA) following a bilateral meeting in Sharm El-Sheikh on the sidelines of the 23rd International Conference of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI) from October 27 to 31, 2025. In a press statement released on Saturday, Somalia’s Auditor General said the agreement underscores the two institutions’ commitment to strengthening cooperation in financial oversight and public-sector auditing. The MoU aims to enhance audit quality, jointly develop mechanisms to combat corruption, and facilitate the exchange of expertise and modern auditing techniques in line with international standards. “This MoU represents an important milestone in reinforcing accountability and transparency in Somalia’s public sector while benefiting from regional and international best practices,” said a senior official from the Office of the Auditor General. The Somali Auditor General’s office reaffirmed its commitment to expanding international cooperation, particularly with regional partners such as Arab countries, to strengthen its institutional capacity and advance principles of transparency, accountability and good governance. Ahmed Isse Gutale, Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia, expressed his gratitude to Egypt and the Accountability State Authority for their warm hospitality and the exceptional organization of this year’s INCOSAI.
