SRIMEX Names New “Seasoned” Female CEO

Monrovia – SRIMEX Oil & Gas Company, leading importer of petroleum products in Liberia, on November 30, 2017 announced the appointment of Wadei Powell as Chief Executive Officer to steer the company through its next phase of growth. The appointment comes at a time when the company is poised to take on the future market opportunities and customer relation growth. Powell, former Vice President of Administration & HR at Cellcom Liberia and General Services Manager at Firestone Liberia, is a seasoned leader with a proven record of taking organizations to the next level by realigning organizational systems and processes to match strategic business growth. Making the disclosure on November 30, 2017 at a news conference held at the company’s office in Monrovia, the outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Musa Hassan Bility said the decision to turn the Liberian oil and gas giant over to Powell was not a walk in the park but a thorough vetting process that showed that she brings everything the company needs to move forward: credibility, integrity and productivity. “I have no doubt that she [Wadei] will do far better than I did. I have no doubt that she will make Liberian women especially young women proud,” he stressed. As Vice President of Administration & HR of Cellcom (acquired by Orange Liberia in 2016), Powell helped redefined the company’s administrative strategy; driving significant improvement in its organizational culture. As General Services Manager of Firestone Liberia, she helped reshape the company’s relationship with the Government of Liberia and realign its inventory systems and processes. Powell is also the Founder and President of UFOUND Solutions Group, a consulting firm providing organizational development services to private and public entities. Musa Bility, former CEO of SRIMEX, will serve as Chairman and special advisor to the management team while he focuses more of his energies on cultivating the immense business development opportunities available to SOG. “Sound organizational systems and processes are the building blocks of any successful organization. Aligning these systems with the business objectives and goals is key to ensuring continued growth and sustainability. I’m looking forward to helping SRIMEX accomplish this as it moves forward in capturing the immense potential ahead by transforming its organizational and business models, the way it engages with customers, and how it competes and thrives in the oil & gas industry. I am extremely pleased that SRIMEX Chairman, Mr. Musa Bility, has recognized this opportunity to expand continuing building SOG’s market share and deliver on its promise of exceptional service to its customers. I’m excited to be a part of the company’s growth and look forward to further innovating and redefining the way SRIMEX does business.” said Powell. “Starting SRIMEX and having the chance to build and work with such a great team has been one of the most incredible and rewarding experiences of my life. Together, we set out to build a business that would be at the forefront of the Liberia oil & gas sector and we have accomplished that dream. As we move forward, I am delighted to hand over the reins to an executive of Wadei’s experience to help us achieve the next stage of exponential growth.” said Bility. About SRIMEX Srimex was formed as a General Trading Company in 2003. Srimex imported commodities such as cement, IT and electrical equipment, cooking oil and milk powder. In 2005 Srimex was granted a license to import petroleum products into Liberia and this license extends to the distribution, commercial retail, bunkering as well as oil exploration. The petroleum import business soon eclipsed into other activities and in 2011 Srimex Oil and Gas was formed to focus solely on the import and distribution of this product. Srimex Oil and Gas has grown from an importer of modest quantities of PMS into a company that has increased and sustained enormous import and distribution market share in PMS, AGO, and HFO.
