Those keen on attending this year's National Day Parade (NDP) or either of the two preview shows at the National Stadium can apply for tickets when applications open at noon on Saturday (May 23).All Singapore Citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for two, four or six tickets for one of the three NDP shows. Tickets are not allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, and an electronic balloting system will determine successful applicants, the NDP 2026 executive committee said on Friday. The National Day Parade (NDP) will return to the National Stadium this year, which marks Singapore's 61st birthday. The preview shows are on July 25 and Aug 5.Each ticket admits one spectator only, and all children - including infants carried in arms - must hold a valid ticket for admission to the show.Ticket applications will open until noon on June 6.

MP Alvin Tan pays tribute to PAP volunteer who died after Meet-the-People session: 'Miss him so much'

Minister of State for National Development Alvin Tan paid tribute to a volunteer who died shortly after serving at a People's Action Party (PAP) Meet-the-People session (MPS) on May 18.In tribute posts on Instagram and Facebook the next day, Tan wrote that Wong Sun Kwong had been serving at PAP's Moulmein-Cairnhill Branch that night and was «in his usual good spirits». Tan had hugged Wong and told him how his welcoming nature had attracted many youths to PAP's MOCA branch. However, less than an hour later, another volunteer informed Tan that Wong was feeling unwell and he was taken to the hospital by the branch secretary. Tan added that as Wong's prognosis was «bleak», they had spent the night and early morning by Wong's bedside with his loved ones. Wong died on the morning of May 19. Tan described Wong as a well-loved, fatherly figure to the community, adding that his departure was «so unexpected and shocking».

SINGAPORE — Tuas Limited, the Australian-listed owner of telecommunication operator Simba, said on May 22 it has terminated its sale and purchase agreement to buy shares in another telco M1.The agreement to purchase M1, owned by Singapore-based asset manager Keppel, was first announced on Aug 11, 2025.Under its terms, the agreement would be terminated if conditions were not fulfilled or waived before May 21, the long-stop date, the deadline by which an agreement can be terminated without a penalty, if conditions were not satisfied or waived.Simba continues to co-operate with the investigation being undertaken by Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) into potential breaches of the Telecommunications Act and the conditions of Simba's Facilities-Based Operator Licence, Tuas said in a statement released on the Australian Securities Exchange.Tuas will keep shareholders updated in relation to that investigation.In the meantime, Tuas said Simba will continue to operate its business in the Singapore telecommunications market.

Two women, aged 30 and 47, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the online sale of counterfeit goods.The duo were nabbed during raids conducted between April 27 and May 19 at Yishun Ring Road, Gambas Crescent, Bukit Batok West Avenue 4 and Bukit Batok Crescent, where police found more than 400 purportedly fake items.Police said in a news release on Thursday (May 21) night that the items seized, with an estimated street value of over $14,800, included luxury bags, wallets, watches, sunglasses, pouches and accessories. «The police take a serious view of intellectual property rights infringement and would like to remind the public that the distribution and sale of counterfeit goods, including through online platforms, are serious offences,» the police said.
